Shakib Al Hasan Ruled Out of World Cup 2023 Due to Fractured Finger

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan will miss the crucial World Cup 2023 match against Australia in Pune on November 11 due to a fractured left index finger.

The injury occurred during his impressive innings of 82 against Sri Lanka in Delhi on Monday.

Physio Bayjedul Islam Khan stated, "Shakib underwent an emergency X-ray in Delhi, which confirmed the fracture on the left PIP joint. Recovery is estimated at three to four weeks." Shakib will depart for Bangladesh today for rehabilitation.Despite a challenging World Cup run with three single-digit scores in six innings, Shakib's recent performance against Sri Lanka marked a turning point.

 He played a vital role in Bangladesh's win and was involved in the appeal leading to Angelo Mathews' historic dismissal.

Bangladesh, having lost six out of eight World Cup games, are striving for a top-eight finish to secure a spot in the Champions Trophy 2025. Shakib's absence will undoubtedly impact the team's dynamics as they aim to end the tournament on a positive note.
